Land Repair Australia (LRA) is
new company formed to acquire and rehabilitate degraded agricultural
land. LRA is a new approach to
investment in The company results from a
recently completed 18 months study into the feasibility of creating a new
investment vehicle to facilitate private sector investment into acquiring and
rehabilitating degraded land and water resources in The company operates by acquiring unprofitable degraded land and water resources, re assessing the uses it is being put to, rehabilitating land which should be continued in agriculture, retiring that which should not to bio diversity reserves or changing its use to rural living or some other valued use and then reselling the productive land and water or gifting the reserve land to a tax department recognised gift recipient. The fund (s) managed by the company profit from; · capital gain as a consequence of increasing productivity into top 25% of agricultural land, · improving economic water use efficiency, and · benefits from taxation, carbon and salinity credits and other payments for ecosystem services. It uses private investment funds and proposes to access funds from the rapidly growing Socially Responsible Index (SRI) based funds and contribute significantly to the nations stock of reserve lands. |
